SALVATION
To Be Saved
Receiving
Christ Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord is the most important
decision you will ever make. If you are not sure whether you
saved or not, here are some important things you need to know,
which according to the Bible, are essential in being saved:
How
to be Saved
Jesus
loves you and wants to come into your life, if you will just
invite Him. He cares for you personally. THINK OF IT! The same
Lord who created the universe, who has existed since the beginning
of time, who being one and the same with God Almighty, came
as a baby, became one of us, died for us, and was risen from
the dead -- this same Jesus Christ LOVES YOU!
He says in the Bible that He stands at the door of our hearts
and knocks (Rev. 3:20). He does not barge in by knocking down
the door, but instead He awaits for your permission to enter.
* We have all sinned and
come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). As we invite Him
into our lives, we begin with a prayer of confession, admitting
that we have sinned against God and others.
* We are to ask for His
forgiveness (I John 1:9).
* We are to believe in our
hearts and confess with our lips that Jesus is Lord and that
God indeed raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:8-9).
Being saved is a gift God gives us, which results from His grace
functioning through our faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Salvation is
not based on our own goodness, but God's. It does not come through
our own effort to "live a good life", but comes when
we receive Him and believe on His name - this is, believe what
He tells us about Himself (John 1:12-13).
Contrary to what many have somehow come to believe, a person
is not born a Christian. Being saved involves one's full understanding
and choice. It is something that happens "all at once"
- just like being born again. It doesn't happen because we do
good things and live a clean life. We become saved the moment
we confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior (Acts 16:30-31).
You can be saved anywhere - at home, in your auto, at work or
school, wherever and whenever we honestly pray and invite Jesus
to be our Lord and Savior (Acts 16:30-31).
If you have never made this commitment, please allow us to share
Christ with you. One of our pastors or altar workers would be
delighted to pray with you personally any time.
If you prefer, you may pray this prayer right now:
Lord God, I now acknowledge that I
have sinned against you, and like everyone else, I have fallen
short of your glory. I am sorry, please forgive me. Jesus, I
believe that you came to pay the penalty for my sin without
You deserving it. Thank you for dying in my place. I believe
that You rose from the grave and you are alive today. I need
your presence in my life. Come into my heart and help me live
a full life in accordance to your Word. Send your Holy Spirit
to fill me and empower me to live a victorious and productive
life. Teach me to serve you and to help others... Amen.
